“This year’s Boston Marathon fell on the 4-year anniversary of putting on a running leg and taking a big scary leap towards something I hadn’t tried in over seven years since losing my leg — running. Running well at Boston this year helped me to celebrate and reflect on four years of hard work, and my positive growth as both a runner and a person. I was able to celebrate this day with so many friends, loved ones, and even strangers who were also celebrating their own accomplishments, which made this year extra special. Finishing Boston also means that it’s time to work towards some new goals.” - HOKA fan and 2019 Boston Marathon Finisher @eodpopp #timetofly (📸: @ufnoof )
We’ve got big things in the works. Project Carbon X is coming. #timetofly
"Sometimes when I think about the future, I envision my story being told or maybe penning my autobiography. How do I want my story to read? Did I do things I loved? Was I diligent in my pursuits? Did I have fun? Seeing life this way helps me choose my next adventure, whether it's expressing myself, applying for a 'big' job, going back to school or running another marathon or ultra." - HOKA fan @mireille.sine , who signed up for her second 50K trail race only two days after finishing her first. Last weekend, Mireille finished Leona Divide 50K and showed us how you can write your story by setting future goals and making the decision to persevere. #womenwhofly
"To acknowledge the land in which we explore on, is to honor the people and those who once came before us. Many of us have lost our land, our culture and our language. However, by educating others about the land and its people means to acknowledge and recognize that we exist. It was our land before colonization, and it is sacred to us. We gain and gather strength from it because we know our ancestors once walked it. Our creator made it for us, and we will continue to protect it and love it fiercely." - HOKA fan and founder of @nativewomenswilderness , @jaylyn.gough . #womenwhofly
"@nativewomenswilderness was created to change the idea of what women should look like in the outdoors. It was created in frustration of the lack of women of color represented in the outdoor industry, let alone the representation of Native women. Our women and non-binaries are a constant source of support— hearing how the land has made them stronger and how it has helped them heal through their life's challenges. Being a woman of color is difficult, but these stories represent the resilience of our women and how it is tied to the land." - HOKA fan and founder of @nativewomenswilderness , @jaylyn.gough . #womenwhofly
