This is the closest I’ll probably ever get to walking on water 😝. Such a surreal pit stop just off the side of the highway (so close trucks were honking at us).

Last time I was in Arizona, @dani_the_explorer and I took a day to go drive these insane back roads winding through the mountains. I was completely mind blown, had no idea a place like this existed in the state. Finally going through all the photos now, reminding me this place is just as crazy as I remembered.

This still remains one of my favorite sunsets of my entire life. Not just because it was incredibly beautiful, but it was the very first sunset I caught after leaving my 9 to 5 job to start traveling full time. I had been a nervous wreck for weeks leading up to this moment, but here it finally sunk in that this was my life now. Call me crazy, but it felt like a sign I was onto something great.

If I’m being honest, this expedition made for a rough morning. Woke up at midnight, but our driver showed up two hours late. Then he dropped us off at wrong sunrise viewpoint where there were literally thousands of tourists. And since Bromo is currently erupting (it’s a highly active volcano), we couldn’t get to the crater rim either. After all this commotion, we finally made it to these flats, took a deep breath, and had a ton of fun shooting with the Jeep. Travel can be unpredictable and not always go as planned, but I think that’s just another part of the challenge we all love right? At least it always makes for a good story.

I love going on hikes that have a specific end destination, a final reward for all the work it took to get there. Arriving to this insane view of lakeside mountains after hiking straight uphill for hours was about as rewarding as it gets. There’s just no place else like New Zealand.

Last light over Zion. Spent quite a bit of time up here just taking in the view and watching cars drive that windy road. Then we realized the sun was dropping fast, so I quickly snagged a couple photos before it dipped below the canyon walls.

Swinging the evening away in one of my favorite places on planet Earth. Milford Sound is like stepping into a dream, with moody mountain peaks jutting out of the sea. I’ve been here twice, but I’m already planning a third return to do some longer day hikes and backpacking in the area.

Traveling through Page on our way to Utah, and had to pay a quick visit to Horseshoe again for sunrise. It’s an impressive sight, but so crazy to see the crowds of people and construction here these days, all surrounding a single river bend. I’ve decided that next time I’m here, I want to be on a boat, camping down the river, to get a different perspective.

My favorite tropical beach I’ve ever been to. When we pulled up at sunrise, I could hardly believe my eyes that this place was real. We spent a couple hours running around like crazy shooting, but afterwards took some time to just play in the waves and chill in the sand. A perfect morning in paradise.

Just read @jordhammond’s caption on his latest post which reminded of this shot. @dani_the_explorer knew the light should hit this pillar in the morning, but so many clouds kept rolling through, we didn’t know if we would see it. We hung out here for over two hours just waiting (not a bad place to chill), until one finally opened up for only 30 seconds. People ask me all the time what it takes to be a good photographer...I’d say all of the best ones I know are not only patient, but downright obsessed with getting the perfect light. Light chaser would probably be a more fitting title than photographer.

Another set from the craziest sunrise I’ve seen this year. We had heard this place is a total gamble because, more often than not, clouds roll in or the sulphuric haze becomes too much, and there ends up being zero visibility. An hour before sunrise, a cloud came out of nowhere and socked us in, and I thought there was no chance we’d see sunrise. But after huddling and shivering in the cold, I walked back to the crater edge as the sun was coming up, and by some stroke of luck the view was completely clear. Could not have been more relieved and elated than in that moment.

On our recent trip to Page, we opted to avoid the tourists and went to explore lesser known canyons in the area. Making our way through these incredible walls of red rock with hardly another person around (except for our Navajo guide of course) made for a really fun morning.
