A little something extra for you on a Friday night - 19th July 2019 at 7pm with @liana_oldham ✨
Balancing asanas (postures) are included in most yoga classes because they develop lightness, strength, and increase concentration.  They can be challenging to perform as you activate certain muscles to hold the body in certain position and also let go of emotions or habits that confine the body. 
You will have 90 minutes to experience the gravity point of each balance and how to shift your body weight.  We will also look at how to balance the mental and psychic levels through breathing techniques (Pranayamas) and engage with your energy centres (Chakras). This clinic is a place for you to ask questions and is suitable for all levels - including beginners and will take place on a monthly basis (excluding August).

Yoga has taught me that I am a spirit being having a human experience. This helps me look past my limited beliefs, peception and conditioning (and that of other beings). Tuesday Tip (on Wednesday 🙈) Yoga Blocks 👍👍👍
When I first started my yoga practice I didn’t understand what these were, and how to use them in my practice. 
There are 100s of ways you can use your blocks in pretty much all poses! 
They are great for helping support you, bringing the floor up to you - if reaching the floor isn’t accessible, they’re great for helping with balancing poses, for getting up and down from the floor, for helping build strength in any balance, to help lengthen the spine, you name it these blocks are there for you! 
Simply sitting on your block can help straighten your spine for meditation 🧘‍♀️ They range in price from around 10aed for the soft blocks at Daiso, to  100aed plus for the more eco-friendly heavier weight cork blocks. 
For kids classes I favour the soft blocks when we’re building, or balancing them on our heads and the cork blocks when they need stability for walking the plank in pirate yoga ...note bite marks in the green block 😂 In adult classes I prefer cork unless we’re using the blocks in resting poses or meditation 👍

On this beautiful Sagittarius full moon I have bought myself some fabulous yoga pants @dharmabumsactive cos I DREAM about doing yoga. It’s been 10 months since I had my third baby. My body is so desperate to stretch and get strong again. Now I have no excuses as I set the intention to get on my mat every week. So so tired today.  The last two days the twins haven’t had a day sleep.  Playgroup days they always miss it and yesterday Banjo only had 30 minutes and both of them were so ratty after no sleep Monday.  They were just all out of sorts yesterday.  Especially Essie.  That was a bit hard with both of them needing me at the same time.  Today I thought I would take them to playgroup.  It was raining and we couldn’t go outside so I thought playgroup would be fun.  It was fun and the twinnies had a ball and I got to catch up with other women (which by the way is a huge thing) but when I got home and popped them to bed they didn’t want to sleep. 🤦‍♀️ Noooooooo.  After four tries and them ending up naked in their cot (they were giggling because they were both naked in their bed 😂) I got them up! 
Twins with lots and lots of energy makes mummy very tired 😂. It makes me think though....is going to playgroup worth it?  It really mucks up our routine and we all know how much we need that sleep time!  What would you do?  Continue playgroup and just roll with it or stay at home and keep them in their routine so everyone is happy? 
Alright, I know the answer 😂 but can you just entertain option 2 😂

I love my family and I love my job so I am extremely fortunate. I don't always have the time to sit, not be distracted and focus to disolve into a meditative state , but this is not the only way to get into this state of mind. The true art of mindfulness is to bring mindfulness into every moment, into every action, into every thought, to always be sitting in this meditative space of the neutral mind, sitting witness to each moment, moment to moment. .
When this are busy and chaotic outside and you get distracted or overwhelmed breath deep and bring yourself back to this stillness inside. Repeat repeat repeat.

Day two of #mentaloawareness is a lunge. How do I recharge when I’m feeling burned out? I feel quite in tune with my body and mind. I tend not to let it get so far as to feel burned out. I always encourage my students to be aware at all times of how they are feeling. It’s so easy to “soldier on” and when we do this, things tend to creep up on us. When I find things getting a little overwhelming, I prioritise. I will say no to the things I am not able to give my full attention to. I will make time for some additional meditation or just simply spend time with my kids and husband. Doing silly things and having fun. I always make sure my sleep is a priority and I try to go to bed at the same time every night. A proper sleep routine is key to my wellbeing. .

It is fun to play around transitions from one pose to another and the level of difficulty increase tremendously from transitions. Next time I will try to push back up again onto the palm as Carmen's suggest (intense transition!)

Look out world, the glasses are on! 🤓 Since I can’t workout yet (boo post-op) I’m channeling my energy into creating a NEW coaching program!!! 🎉 My recent loss of an ovary brought to light one side of wellness I’ve been taking for granted lately — hormone health! Well no more!! During my yoga teaching years I extensively studied the endocrine system (hormone production) and now I’m combining all that knowledge into a practical program YOU can use to help you feel like yourself again! Look out world, the glasses are on! 🤓 Since I can’t workout yet (boo post-op) I’m channeling my energy into creating a NEW coaching program!!! 🎉 My recent loss of an ovary brought to light one side of wellness I’ve been taking for granted lately — hormone health! Well no more!! During my yoga teaching years I extensively studied the endocrine system (hormone production) and now I’m combining all that knowledge into a practical program YOU can use to help you feel like yourself again! 'Body Attack, Body Combat, Insanity, HIIT' etc etc... Wowzers! I've definitely attacked my body many times in the past and I can tell you it didn't involve going to the gym or an exercise class....! 🤔🙈 Now I'm not slating anyone else's exercise regimes - If you want to 'attack' your body whilst going 'insane' doing it then that's great for you. 👍😉😂 Me personally, I needed to find a way to be gentle and loving with myself. I needed ways to look after my body that came from a place of self-love not from attack.

Using fear-based language (attack, insane, combat etc) just doesn't resonate with me and perhaps it doesn't with you either.

Now I'm not saying I treat my body like a precious snowflake and avoid breaking out in a sweat ever and never challenge or exert myself. Quite the opposite actually! Recently I have been back in the gym and have surprised myself that I could easily jump on a treadmill and run 5k in less than 30 minutes (I never run!) But I do this from a place of self-love. ❤

Did you know we are more successful at breaking old habits and creating new ones when it comes from a place of choice and self-love?

Now you might think of course I'm making a choice but the language we use and the stories we tell ourselves can make the difference to the brain believing you are choosing this or having to do this.

For example: I have to exercise, I must workout, I have to eat healthy, I must lose weight, I must quit smoking, I must quit drinking etc. These do not sound like 'choice' phrases.

Yoga and mindfulness has taught me that the mind is always listening - so just be careful what you tell it. 🙏 "Fall in love with taking of yourself..." 💗

I only able to lift the back leg with knee bend at this moment ..still unable to straighten the back legs. The leg behind the head is just like tons of weight on my neck. -

Continue to engage the neck to make sure the leg isn't coming out and encourage a proper hip rotation. Once the first leg is in place (leg behind head), kneel up, plant palms shoulders width, bend elbows like you do for chaturanga & lean forward so your face will end up very close to the ground. Activate the low belt (navel + pelvic floor + lower back) & notice how the back leg become weightless, lift it. First bend the back knee, then eventually straighten. Remember to push back with the head, lift face away from the floor (to stop the leg from moving). It will be easier to open the hips slightly to the side instead of keeping them squared, but you have to keep the hips level eventually.

Oxidised Celestial stud earrings being set with 2mm diamonds.
Thanks to everyone who let me know their fav stone colours over on my stories... the decision is made Im going to be making these up in all the birthstones as follows... January: Garnet

And the cut yourself out of your video award goes too...... 🤦‍♀️ oh well shit happens, I don't even know how I found the energy to do this flow or my practice after the night I had with RJ he just cried all night.. so then I cried we both didn't get sleep I did everything to make him comfortable last night and he still wasn't happy. Finally around 3:30am he fell asleep 3 and half hrs later I had to do the school run ( mum life ) it's still been an unsettled day with him and i walked  around like a walking zombie but I think I really needed this time on my mat and off my mat just to calm and breathe and forget the last 12hrs or so. 
Sorry I didn't have nothing much more pleasant to say today. .

Os animáis? Las tardes de piscina, parque, campo etc son perfectas para hacer algunas posturas de yoga con los peques. Se crea una conexión preciosa. Les encantará poder escalaros pero no solo eso, hay que coordinarse y trabajar en pareja. 
#ardhapurvottanasana es sencillita y  se puede incluso hacer de tres! Si los peques son muy pequeños podrán solo escalaros y no pasa nada si no llegan a la postura. 
Importante: el adulto de abajo las rodillas a la anchura de la cadera, que no se abran mucho. Y los dedos de las manos hacia delante. Apretar con los dedos de las manos el suelo como si quisieras agarrarlo para proteger las muñecas. Respiración suave y consciente que os ayuda a mantener la postura. 
Ardho purvottanasana expande el pecho y ayuda a respirar mejor, fortalece brazos, abdomen y zona lumbar. Trabaja la resistencia.
