Believe it or not I always felt like the lone wolf outsider. I wanted so badly to be accepted, to be perfect, included but I never truly felt like I fit in. I spent most of my time looking around me wondering where I was going wrong when I really needed to look deep within. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’d like to tell you I never fall into the trap of comparison. That I never see another postpartum momma and wonder, “why couldn’t I bounce back like her?” or “why can’t I have it together like the other moms?”. But that would be a huge flippin’ lie. I can say that the difference now is that I embrace who I am, hotmess express 🚂 and all. I am okay knowing I won’t be liked or accepted by everyone. The right people are the ones who want to be there and those are the ones I want to pour energy back into. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Mental health.

Let's talk about the brain 🧠. It's a wonderful and awful thing. I've had my fair share of ups and downs with mental health and will always advocate being open and upfront about my journey.

I used to think it was just me going through a "phase" but it wasn't and it took me a long time to realise that's OKAY! 👌

I've accepted that this is something I'll be negotiating for the rest of my life but being mindful of that has really helped.

Our bodies go a bit wrong all the time. We're idiots to believe our minds are exempt. Mind-body connection!

So, last night and today I feel bad, rubbish, wobbly. But tomorrow is another day and maybe it will be better ☀

Bangkok

Let me first start by saying 
I ❤ Bangkok

Last year I took Havangli on a three week back packing tour through Asia and we decided to visit Bangkok. When we landed our first impression was not good at all. Keep in mind we were also comparing it to Singapore. 
Just a quick note to anyone travelling. Never fly from Singapore's Changi airport and compare it to any other airport. You will be sadly disappointed.

So after the initial shock, we get into Bangkok and I have to say it grew on me. So much so that I would strongly consider living there. 
The cost of living is cheap and the experience of joy is high. The street food scene is second to none. Many of the new housing units that are being built are actually not including full kitchen set ups because it's so easy to go grab food at a food stall just seconds away. 
So in the end our experience was amazing. Not only did I get to experience a great place, I got to do it with my daughter and create memories that will last a lifetime. 
What are the 3 items you cannot go without when you are travelling? Mine have to be:

1. Face moisturizer 
2. Light backpack
3. Lip balm

I ❤ Bangkok

I used to HATE mornings.
I could never understand how people could wake up and be so HAPPY.
Like slow down it’s way too early to be so energetic.
My schedule always had me up late, so the mornings and I weren’t friends.

Then I became a mom, and well if you’re a mom too you know that kids wake up when they wake up.
I spent the first year of my daughters life STRUGGLING HARD. 
But I couldn’t let people know that!
I was a mom, I had to be strong.
And I was staying at home so how dare you complain there’s moms out there going to work everyday.
Suck it up, this is your life now.
I’ve spent the last 3 years still struggling, falling deeper into depression.
Shrinking myself to fit in.
I lost my identity when I became a mom, 
but I’m back baby! .

That asshole who basically forced me into having sex with him, even though I cried and continuously told him I didn’t want to, has a girlfriend now. Three months later. She apparently lives in another country. He told me he didn’t want to be in a relationship with me because he wanted to “take it slow” (apparently making me feel guilty and using my depression and loneliness to force me into having sex wasn’t “moving too fast”). We have distant mutual “friends”, and yesterday I was spending time with one of them. Her boyfriend knows the guys who raped me. She doesn’t know what happened three-four months ago. When she mentioned his name I just clenched my jaw and glared into the wall and let my other three friends do the talking for a bit. I still feel sick when I hear his name, but I think it’s good that I don’t run away as soon as he is mentioned, because I shouldn’t let him have that power over me. I thought I would be having nightmares tonight, like I usually do when I’m reminded of what happened, but surprisingly I didn’t. When my friends had left and that conversation caught up with me, I didn’t break down feeling sorry for myself. I felt angry. Pissed off. It was a good feeling. I may or may not have punched a pillow a couple of times (as my psychologist tells me I need to “practice being angry”). Somehow it just felt good to hear that I never mattered much to him anyways, that he could just “move on”. I don’t have to be scared anymore that he might try to contact me. I can’t find any reasons for me to feel guilty anymore. I can simply focus on myself, knowing what he did was wrong, and try to leave that chapter of my life behind me; learn from it, and take it as experience. I don’t know if that’s a weird way to feel about it, but at least right now, that’s how I feel. It might catch up to me later, making me feel worthless or ashamed again, but right now I just feel damn proud of myself for getting out of that situation: because I do deserve so much better.

Still going strong! 💪🖤 I am amazed at what I have survived, the odds I overcame, and the battles I have won. 3 years ago I was in absolute pieces and I thought nothing could ever get better, 2 years ago I was at rock bottom and I discussed my wishes and planned my funeral with my mom, 1 year ago I was back square one after relapsing out of hospital, and today I am more eating disorder free than I have ever felt in my adult life, and in a better place mentally and physically...ever. I am unrecognizable from the person I used to be, the peace and calm in my own mind is foreign. But it is welcome after so many years of constant fighting my own mind and against the tide. All of the battles are finally well worth it. It feels like I'm actually...alive. Not waiting to die, not biding my time, actually alive for once. Not faking it until I make it, or one foot in recovery and one out...100% choosing life. Every day. So...If you're in Hell, keep going.

And an appreciation for both may be had. In recovery we often become hyper focused on joy or sorrow. We allow ourselves to become far too attached to the things that offer us joy or pleasure and attempt to avert our lives from things that cause of sorrow. Can we ever truly appreciate even the small joys if we never experience the suffering of sorrow? Do I appreciate the joy in times of sorrow?

Morning Porridge Peeps!
How are we all after the holidays?
Kick starting a week the right way is so important.
Been loving adding this Peanut Butter Protein powder by @thatprotein into my porridge for a bit of extra boost on busy days, but also because I mean who doesn’t love more peanut butter? Can never have enough if you ask me 😛🥜
Aside from it tasting awesome, making sure you get enough protein in your diet really is important. Here’s some reasons why (my GCSE biology knowledge comes flooding back here)
1. Protein is required for the growth and maintenance of tissues & muscles in the body. Your protein needs are dependent upon your health and activity level so vary for everyone. It’s important you get the correct amount for you.
2. Enzymes are proteins that allow key biochemical reactions to take place within your body such as: Digestion, Energy production, Blood clotting & Muscle contraction
3. Amino acid chains form protein and peptides, which overall make up several hormones and transmit information between cells, tissues & organs.
4. Protein helps the body regulate proper pH values of the blood and other bodily fluids.
There’s sooooo many more reasons, but I’ve spent enough time reminiscing on GCSE days & should probably get back to revision for my A-Level Economics 🤓

A french baguette 🥖 for lunch!! hell yeah!! Today’s lunch I challenged myself to a asdas french baguette sliced which I buttered and filled with lettuce 🥬 @johnwestuk  tuna with Heinz mayo, slices of cucumber 🥒 and sweet pickle!  I have to say, I’m a pro at making sandwiches 🥪 😉Tasted so good🤤👌 Also has a babybel cheese 🧀 Dessert was a semi frozen strawberry activia intensely creamy yoghurt, these yoghurts I’ve avoided for months well not today and not anymore. OPERATION COMEBACK starts today 🙌

Got the all clear from my consultant yesterday after my op, so I can now get things back on track. No fad diet, no crazy training programme just steady steps listening to my body with the intention of being healthy and strong 💪
.
Obviously the best way to start is with my fave big bowl of thiCCC and creamy oats 😍
Made with @kin_nutrition vanilla vegan protein, @nushfoods almond yoghurt and @innocent almond milk - soaked overnight with @yumandyay_ flax and chia.
Topped with some classic banana, blueberries, my own homemade cashew butter, seeds and a lil sweet cinnamon, thanks @ellena_fit 😘

So I’m off to the gym to hit up a full body with light weights, nothing silly!!! Can’t lift heavy until at least 6 weeks post op and there’s no way I’ll risk it..
