I have been in transit for my work. After some time off since my last workout, today felt pretty good. I’m pretty happy about it.

I didn’t have protein powder or pre-workout because it’s packed in my bags and I don’t want to pack it again just for a couple of workouts. I proved it could be done something some “bro’s” don’t believe is possible.

Every 2 minutes, for 12 minutes (6 sets): [Snatch Lift- Off] + Snatch
*Sets 1-2 = 2 reps @ 75% of 1-RM Snatch - 70
*Sets 3-4 = 2 reps @ 80% of 1-RM Snatch - 75 *Sets 5-6 = 1 rep @ 85% of 1-RM Snatch - 80
(Perform a snatch pull to the knee with a 2 second pause, then lower the bar to the ground, pause for 1 second, then perform a snatch.)
At the 14 minute mark…

Celebrating a TINY victory here! .

I’ve been working tirelessly on my over head game these past few years. It’s gotten better but there a ton more to do. .
.
Specifically though I’m celebrating the fact that I’m catching my split jerk with a bend in my bottom knee, the way you’re supposed to. I have always caught with a locked out back leg, thus catapulting the weight forward. For me, this is huge! .

What small victory, no matter how small, can you currently celebrate in your life? .

Started today off with Jerks followed by jerk dips. To round out the session I did few sets of pause front squats. This block I am focusing on my weaknesses: split jerk, leg strength..... and tan. Tonight’s workout consisted of doing 5 sets of kneeling snatch grip high pulls and cleans from the bottom squat position. Reps were either 1, 3, or 5. The kneeling press (which is a Klokov Press variant) consisted of 14x1. This is a PR for me on this exercise. The Z-Press followed after this, and while not a PR, I am getting close to setting one on this exercise. The final exercise was the kneeling snatch doing 3x1. Overall, good progress tonight.⁣

My rule box side loves staying inside the lines, but lately my influencer side has me busting out. I love tracking devices because they show data and progress (rule box side) but I hold back and play it safe when I stay within my limits (limiting my influencer personality). What I mean is during running, I was trying so hard to follow the rules for heart training and couldn’t figure out why I felt so good in the red zone when that should be the max for most! Well as figures, I’m not like most but my max heart rate is above the calculated max. I probably was running at a comfortable orange or so and was trying to hold back; stay in the box. After my realization, I have been going off feel and have been so much happier and my running has been so much better. I should trust my gut and go with my personality which has always been a little wild and free with a touch of structure 🤪

Athletics at 45 is a lot different then at 25.  You can still move, you’re still strong and the athletic ability doesn’t go away, but things break so much easier.  You can quit or you can suck it up and keep moving.  Just keep moving brothers and sisters! -

Crummy snatch but it’s a PR, so I will take it. My last PR was 10lbs lighter. The main problem for me to work on is mobility. I need to work on stretching, mobility, flexibility so much. In the spirit of failing forward here’s a snippet of my Sunday snatch sesh where there’s a whole bunch of literal fail fowards 😂 so much failing but also so much learning 🤔

In other failworthy news this week; I have spilt boiling hot water over my hand through sheer lack of body awareness, made a wrong decision at work through making assumptions of other people, been unprepared, not listened to my body and consequently ended up sick because I’ve been burning the candle at both ends or whatever that saying is 🤷🏼‍♀️ eating like an asshole might have contributed to this as well..😅 I’m not naturally a reflective person but this week has certainly pushed me to take stock of the busy work that has been making up my life lately. Things that have been working well include listening to the daily stoic podcast every morning, no screens when eating, patting my doggo Arya regularly 😍 and doing mobility/gentle stretching before bed. 🌱

Today was one of those days where training made me into a better man... After failing my first attempt, @man_in_tights88 told me I went into that attempt looking "timid," you can hear him tell me to hit my rep with "CONFIDENCE!" Upon reflection, I wonder how many things in life I do with a lack of confidence. Sometimes the difference between a failed attempt and a successful one is your APPROACH, not ABILITY.

274 off high blocks today. Its amazing how quickly thoughts can race through your head. A lot of self-doubt on the very initial pull off the block - weight felt really heavy. Decided f$ck it, just pull the shit out of it and see what happens. All those thoughts in a split second before the even got to my knee.

A key part of any strength training should be core work. Not just sit ups.
.
You core has as many as 35 different muscle groups connecting within it. We break it down in four different groups, back extensors, abdominals, lateral trunk muscles, and the hip muscles. So sadly doing just sit ups won’t cut it.

Hit some snatch complexes today focusing on high hang/hang/full and a balance. All of these were powered and then caught in a squat (2nd clip). This all followed . .
10x20 yard sprints
 10x2 EMOM @ 80% on deads (sets 1 and 10 shown). front squat 4x5 ss with SL RDL .

yesterday i hit 365 for a single on bench and a 3x3 on cleans with 315. Solid two days of training. Got two more week of training and then tapering for test week will follow. .
