It’s Friday, y’all! Let’s finish the week off by talking about a little thing called Procrastination. Other than a poor life habit, procrastination is a symptom of anxiety. The avoidance of a task or many tasks should prompt you to lean in and ask yourself why. What about these tasks triggers your avoidant behavior? Feelings of incompetence, lack of interest, etc. Start with leaning in and understanding the root of the avoidance, and proceed from there. And remember to be kind to yourself. Live each day with intention, but with patience; as if it were a marathon and not a race. Instead of giving 10% to 10 different things, why not try giving 100% to a few? Prioritize, execute, and pat yourself on the back 👊🏼

Breakfast this morning is who toasts🍞 , one with avocado🥑 , hemp, and flax🌰 , and one with tofu scramble🌱 , along with some blackberries🍇  and banana🍌 . So my dad has left now for china in order to pick up my half brother, so it's just me and my stepmom now for the rest of the weekend. I hope it all goes well, but I’m pretty sure it will. My dad’s nervousness is just getting to me at this point😣 . I actually did some AP prep last night, which is good🙌🏻 . I did some practice problem for the Physics C Mechanics exam, which I really need to work on because I didn’t even take the class! I signed up for the test anyways though because I’m taking physics 1-2 and doing decently well, so my physics teacher said to take the Mechanics exam as well because it's effectively over the same material🤷🏻‍♀️ .

Yesterday we looked at posture awareness and the impact of sitting and standing in certain positions for long hours can have on our posture.

The session started with Dean delivering assessments and what he would be looking for in terms of imbalances whilst incorporating daily methods to support better posture alignment.

We took over the store before opening hours and completed some strength based band exercises, with plenty of onlookers watching from outside 👀.

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve battled with mental health illness since my teens. 
It’s something that has held me back from achieving so many of the things I have wanted too do.
Two years ago I discovered a program which has helped to heal my body & settle my mind. 
I haven’t looked back since.

As the only Pasifika and Tongan researcher at #SASPconf 2019, I was proud to present part of my PhD research today. 
Within mental health, we often talk about psychological distress and its common association with experiences of anxiety and/or depression. So today I had the opportunity to discuss research data showing that lower levels of social support are associated with greater levels of psychological distress for Pasifika.

From a Pasifika perspective, social support is based on the importance of vā or the relationships/relatedness with others. So it’s important to look at how this can be taken into account with Pasifika in relation to psychological distress and mental health more generally.

As the only Pasifika and Tongan researcher at #SASPconf 2019, I was proud to present part of my PhD research today.
Within mental health, we often talk about psychological distress and its common association with experiences of anxiety and/or depression. So today I had the opportunity to discuss research data showing that lower levels of social support are associated with greater levels of psychological distress for Pasifika.

From a Pasifika perspective, social support is based on the importance of vā or the relationships/relatedness with others. So it’s important to look at how this can be taken into account with Pasifika in relation to psychological distress and mental health more generally.

Depression is: • a mental illness that is recognised around the world, • common - it affects about one in ten of us, • something that anyone can get, and is treatable!  Depression is not: • something you can snap out of, • a sign of weakness, • something that everyone experiences, or • something that lasts forever as one episode.  The NHS recommends that you should see your GP if you experience the symptoms of depression for most of the day and every day for over 2 weeks. There is no single cause of depression. Different things may cause depression for different people. This section looks at some of the things that might cause depression, or depressive symptoms. Some studies suggest that your genetics can play a part in developing depression. For example, one study found that particular genes may play a key role in developing recurrent depression.However, studies into the genetics of depression are at an early stage. Some studies have shown that not exercising, being under or overweight and having fewer social relationships can increase the risk of experiencing depressive symptoms. Both legal and illegal drugs might affect your mental health. If you take prescribed medications, it is important to make sure you take them in the way your doctor suggests. Some people will drink alcohol because it feels like it can relieve anxiety or depression. However, the evidence suggests that if you drink regularly or misuse alcohol you are at a greater risk of developing depression. Depression can come with other mental or physical health conditions such as such as diabetes or cancer. Absolutely unreal brekkie today & exactly what I was craving😻chocolate @alpro with lotsa strawberries & a few frozen grapes & bitta pear bcos strawbs are yum but ain’t sufficient alone😜💓also yes there’s a mountain of canderel & cinnamon lol whoops😂super good mood now cos I’ve woke up not too tired & got dressed before brekkie which always makes me feel more productive lol and I’ve had coffee so yay😂now if only I didn’t have to go to the hospital for an ecg now🙄🙃hopefully the rest of the day will be good tho x
