I come bearing a cautionary tale. Before this husband I had another one. He said to me once that I was an incredible mother, an amazing housewife but a terrible wife-wife 😂. After that, I kind of stopped worrying about all the housework stuff. I mean, why bother? Anyway, I had lunch with some girlfriends the other day and they both mentioned washing their windows. I looked at them both to see if they were pulling my leg; if this was some sort of elaborate ruse at the end of which they would roll around on the ground laughing uproariously, screaming, "Gotcha!" But no, it seems window cleaning is still a thing. Who knew?
So when I came home, I looked at my windows. Now, since I've become a big spider fan I've let them build their little homes in and outside of mine. To clean my windows would mean moving them on from theirs. But I also wanted to try this clean window thing on for size. So on Easter Monday I geed my son up, grabbed the hose and headed out to tackle the lounge room windows. I gave them a bit of a hose and watched as the webs slid reluctantly aside. Hmm, not sure how I was feeling. But at this point there was no turning back so I moved onto the screens which after not having been moved for many, many moons wouldn't budge. I handed my son the broom, "Try to move the screens out and be... *smash* ...careful". Yup. We broke a window. 😭😂 The glazier came and took $300 yesterday (oh and he also replaced the glass) and you know what, it did feel good being able to look out and into the greenery unhindered by anything. So, for some reason unknown even to me, I decided to take on the dining room windows as soon as he left. And somehow I managed to put a little crack in one of those suckers!!! I have no idea how! 😳 Seriously people, this cleaning business is not all it's cracked up (no pun intended) to be!!! But as I very, VERY gently wiped over the inside of these windows this morning I noticed a pair of Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoos decimating my neighbour's tree. Normally the black cockies can't help but noisily announce their arrival but today they didn't make a peep. If it hadn’t been for this cleaning fad I might have missed them! SWIPE for series

Welcome Swallow having a rest in the morning sun. I rarely get to photograph these birds as they fly around so fast and never seem to stay still for very long! 🐥

Female yellow hammer, seem to be making a bit of a resurgence locally as I managed to find 6 of them at once which is good to see. They used to be a lot more common but suffered a fall in numbers due to the lack of suitable areas for them to nest as they like to nest in the thick brush along the edges of fields and hedgerows which slowly was taken away and used for agricultural farm land. Taken in #riponuk

This Cape May Warbler quickly became a celebrity when it showed up in Abbotsford near Vancouver, Canada in the middle of winter. These beautiful warblers breed primarily in eastern Canada in the spring and summer. In the winter, they migrate south all the way to Caribbean islands, parts of Central America and even northern South America. This bird was a long ways away from where it should have been! It spent the month of January feeding from this flowering Oregon Grape bush, and managed to catch the occasional insect, as seen in this photo.

Nature comes in such remarkable forms; the intricate feather details on this hummingbird, a Fawn-breasted Brilliant, blew me away. The bird was perched high in a tree in the cloud forest of Ecuador, backlit by the sun. When it took off, the sun revealed incredible details in its translucent feathers. As I said in my Instagram story today: nature never ceases to amaze me. We really need to protect these natural wonders. #earthday2019
