Are we continuing the truest narrative by celebrating historical significance as a superlative object never to be defiled? Or should we recognize preservation as an object of study that may be pierced and exposed as a revelation of the truest narrative of intrinsic and historical significance?

Visited the Scottish parliament today after a busy, windy morning. I liked that it's open to the public and you can freely ask the staff questions. Informative and interactive - well done!

Studio III Project 2: Community Centre + Makerspace⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Sited in Montreal’s Griffintown, this project will re-envision a community centre for the 21st century. Historically, Griffintown was mostly populated by Irish immigrant workers. It was known as a robust industrial engine and hub of manufacturing activity. The Lachine canal was supplanted by the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1959 and this marked a period of steady decline, job loss and depopulation in Griffintown. In October 2012, the city of Montreal revealed its plans concerning the revitalization of the Griffintown area, with a desire to transform what was once an industrial, vacant area into a pleasant, family-oriented neighborhood.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Drawing heavy inspiration from the Sendai Mediatheque and hoping to pay tribute to the workers who built this town while still celebrating the future, I propose four ‘symbolic’ silos with a glass façade as the main Parti of the building. The glass façade allows crucial light into a public building and the silos act as the structural system, vertical circulation, separators of program, and include the makerspaces themselves over looking one another to encourage collaboration. This removes the need for a rigid grid, allowing the furniture of the building to create the different zones - thus being heavy in its appearance yet fluid in its movement.⁣⁣⁣// Plan - Level 4 ⁣⁣⁣⁣

This removes the need for a rigid grid, allowing the furniture of the building to create the different zones - thus being heavy in its appearance yet fluid in its movement.⁣⁣⁣// Plan - Ground Floor ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Studio III Project 2: Community Centre + Makerspace⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣

Daudzdzīvokļu mājas koncepcija Lucavsalā. Nosaucu to "LIELAIS LOMS apartments", kā veltījumu visiem zvejniekiem, kas gadsimtu garumā ķēra lašus Daugavas ūdeņos. Ar šo projektu mēs finišējām 4. semestri ;) #arhitektura #architecturefactor #architecturestudent #archistudent #architectural #arhitektūra #archi #conceptart #concept

VERTICAL SCHOOL – BROOKLYN, NY // As cities expand and populations grow, considerations such as limited ground space become all the more pressing. Stacked program is the logical solution, but that approach has its challenges: poor circulation, limited outdoor space, dead ends. At ODA, we explore new typologies and understand the complexities of vertical program, proposing dynamic solutions to meet these varied needs. For an addition to an existing girls ‘school in Crown Heights, our design is guided by the principle that the cube is the most compact shape. The stacked campus leverages the benefits of a dense footprint while addressing the shortfalls of vertical build: more outdoor space to connect inside and outside worlds, voids shaped and treated as real spaces, gaps taking advantage of orientations, in-between spaces controlled to prevent leftover areas, organized layout to maximize walkability.
